Senator Yudichak Celebrates 30th Anniversary of the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor

Easton, June 2, 2018 – State Senator John Yudichak (D-Luzerne/Carbon) celebrated the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor’s 30th anniversary today at their Founders Day event at Hugh Moore Park in Easton.

In early May, Senator Yudichak kicked off his Senator Takes a Hike initiative in Bucks County to highlight the D&L Trail, the Corridor’s centerpiece, which runs 165 miles from Bristol Borough in Bucks County to the River Commons in Wilkes-Barre in Luzerne County. Today, Senator Yudichak completed another leg of his journey by hiking from the Forks of Delaware to Hugh Moore Park in Easton.

“Congratulations to the D&L National Heritage Corridor for three decades of connecting the people and the communities of eastern Pennsylvania to the history of the industrial revolution and the natural beauty of our great Commonwealth,” said Senator John Yudichak. “As I continue northward on my 165-mile journey on the trail, I greatly appreciate the work of federal, state, and local officials who acknowledge the importance of heritage tourism in Pennsylvania with their unwavering support of the D&L Trail.”

“Senator Yudichak has been a true champion of the D&L Trail and it’s great that he can participate in the Founders Day celebration here in Easton with another champion of the D&L, Easton Mayor Sal Panto,” said Elissa Garofalo, Delaware and Lehigh National Corridor Executive Director.

“We are pleased to welcome Senator Yudichak in Easton on his next leg of his Senator Takes a Hike initiative. The D&L trail has been an integral part of the city of Easton and the last few years we’ve worked in conjunction with several partners to transform the Hugh Moore Park. We’re excited to host their Founder’s Day events there and the other events hosted by the D&L National Heritage Corridor Trail throughout the year,” said Sal Panto, Jr., Mayor of Easton.

Senator Yudichak pledged to walk the D&L trail, the longest in Pennsylvania if the Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl LII. Currently, Senator Yudichak has completed just over 89 miles of the trail. In addition to the Founder’s Day celebrations, today also marks the 2018 National Trails Day. To find out more about the Senator Takes a hike initiative, please visit
